COVID-19 - OUR APPROACH TO PREPARING FOR THE SUMMER OF 2022

JANUARY 14, 2022

Based on the many webinars, ZOOM meetings and teleconferences I have been involved with, in addition to keeping in close contact with my representative at the CC Health Department, and staying up to date on information coming from State and Local authorities and the CDC guidelines, CAMP 99 is going to look a bit different this summer. There will be more distance between us and more hand washing and no high fives. But what won't change is the way we care for your children. Our counselors are looking forward to seeing all the campers, knowing how much we all need to be together even though we need to stay apart. I'm sure the children are looking forward to summer, to being outside with friends and playing in the fresh air. We will start our camp season on June 21st. Listed below are some of the steps we are taking to keep our campers safe.

  1. We will be limiting the amount of campers that we allow to attend.
  2. We will be decreasing our camper to staff ratio. This will be determined by the number of campers enrolled.
  3. Open play will be adjusted to structured group activities. Our games and activities will be revised to a little to no contact format and we will be utilizing the outdoor area as much as the weather will permit.
  4. Each group will have their own bin of art supplies and playground equipment.
  5. One staff member will be responsible for overseeing the increased cleaning and sanitizing of the facility and the equipment.
  6. If the state or local government mandates masks, we will require all staff members to comply.
  7. We will be doing a temperature and health check before the campers AND staff can enter camp each day.
  8. If a child develops symptoms, they will be isolated and they will have to be picked up. There will be a strict 72 hour sick policy. If your child has a fever, they cannot return until they are 72 hours fever free without the aid of medicine, as recommended by the CDC. If a staff member develops symptoms, they will be isolated and sent home immediately. They will be unable to return without getting tested for Covid-19 AND being fever free for 72 hours without the aid of medicine.
  9. We will have increased hand sanitizer stations, handwashing stations and designated hand-washing times. All campers will be taught and expected to practice proper hand-washing techniques.
  10. Lunch and snack times will be adjusted to keep campers physically apart from one another. Tables and chairs will be cleaned and disinfected before and after meals.
  11. We will be implementing a curbside drop off and pick-up.
  12. We are tentatively scheduling our trips, being mindful that we may have to cancel if the state mandates that we cannot transport the children safely or if the facility decides to cancel.
  13. We will be using an EPA-approved Disinfecting Sanitization System that meets the CDC/EPA efficacy requirement as it relates to Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as 99.999% of bacteria. Instead of wiping down surfaces, the hospital grade disinfectant is applied using an atomizer fog, which thoroughly sanitizes and disinfects every square inch of an area. We will be using this system at the end of camp every day.

Please keep in mind that, as we experienced last summer, all this can change at any time and we are doing our best to offer your children a safe and fun camp experience.

If you have not registered, I would encourage you to do so now. We will be limiting the number of campers we accept, and now more than ever children need summer camp. Please know that I am available to answer any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to enjoying a different kind of summer with the campers and can't wait to make it the best one ever!

Take care, stay safe and stay healthy!

Come Out and Play,

Ms. Missi
Camp Director
